Home > Citizen Services > Public Safety > Municipal by-laws application > RM 2106 RM 2106- concerning the mooring of boats Article 1- Under reserve of the restrictions contained in this by-law, anyone may moor a boat along that part of the City's wharf, at the end of Cartier Avenue, identified for this purpose on the plan annexed to this by-law as schedule A.
Article 2- No boat may be moored for more than fifteen minutes in the area identified as the ramp on schedule A.
Article 3- In areas other than in the ramp, no boat may be moored:
a) For more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours, nor
b) For more than forty-eight (48) hours in a seven day period.
Article 4- Anyone mooring a boat at the City's wharf must immediately inform the City's Fire Department of the arrival and departure of the boat.
Article 4.1- No one may use the ramp mentioned in article 2, to launch a boat or to remove it from the water, without being authorized to do so by the City, by means of a self-sticking permit fixed in the windshield of the vehicle used to tow the boat.
This permit is issued by the City employee responsible for the wharf. It may be obtained by completing a permit application form supplied for this purpose by the City.
The permit is annual. It is issued upon payment of the sum of twenty dollars ($20.00) for the vehicle of a City of Pointe-Claire resident and one hundred and twenty dollars ($120.00) for non-residents. The replacement cost of a damaged or lost permit is ten dollars ($10.00).
Article 5- The members of the Police Department of the M.U.C. as well as any employee of the City designated for this purpose are responsible for the enforcement of this by-law and, for this purpose, they may institute legal proceedings against anyone contravening a provision of this by-law including the issuance of a statement of offence.
Article 6- Anyone contravening a provision of this by-law, or tolerating or permitting such a contravention, commits an infraction and is liable to the following fine:
a) For a first infraction: a minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00) and a maximum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00);
b) For a repeat infraction: a minimum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and a maximum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00).
Article 7- The present by-law shall come into force according to law.
