Article 1- In the present by-law, “ public place ” means any place where the public is expressly or implicitly invited.
Article 2- It is prohibited for anyone to be in a public place, street, park or public square, on foot or in a public transit vehicle, bearing or carrying a knife, sword, machete or other similar object, without reasonable excuse.
For the purposes of the present article, self-defence does not constitute a reasonable excuse.
Article 3- Anyone contravening this by-law disturbs public peace, order and safety, commits an infraction and is liable to a fine of more than $300.00, plus costs, and, in default of payment of the fine and costs immediately or within the delay granted by the Court, to a term a imprisonment in accordance with the Summary Convictions Act.
Article 4- Paragraph d) of article 2 of by-law number 1495 is repealed.
Article 5- The present by-law comes into force according to law.
