Passes are required and are available only 2 weeks prior to the performance.  They remain valid until ten minutes before the performance.  Should you arrive later, we cannot guarantee that you will have a seat.  Limit of 4 passes per person.

TRANS-ÉPOQUES
ENSEMBLE TRANSMISSION
Alain Giguère, violin; Julie Trudeau, cello; Guy Pelletier, flute; Lori Freedman, clarinet; Brigitte Poulin, piano; Julien Grégoire, percussions
Classical concert. Trans-Époques is a musical voyage across the ages, from Haydn to Sokolovic, made up of six works presented in sounds of contrasting and fascinating music. This concert will be accompanied by dynamic commentaries, and historical and personal anecdotes relating to the works and serving to showcase the music. Therefore, concert-goers will feel perfectly accompanied during the whole concert. This event has received the financial support from the Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tournée.

ENSEMBLE QAT
Xavier Brossard-Ménard, clarinet; Roland Arnassalon, violin; Sheila Hannigan, cello; Sonia Wheaton Dudley, piano
Classical concert.  “1938” is a QAT concert presenting contemporary music in a poetic way, and reintroducing it in its historical context. During the concert, an off-stage voice tells a story that took place back in 1938.  A Jewish music critic from Vienna shares with the audience his mounting distress and concern with regards to the persecution of the Jewish people by the Nazis.  The critic eventually must flee Vienna and his travels bring him to Paris and New York.  He talks to the audience about the composers he meets as well as the pieces that they are writing (classical, musical comedy, jazz, klezmer). This event has received the financial support from the Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tournée.

Jeunesses Musicales du Canada
Classical concert. Fall under the spell of the accordion! Filled with explosive energy, brimming with virtuosity, Jelena Milojevic will forever change your view of the accordion! This young British Columbia artist of Serbian/Croatian origins offers an amazing introduction to the solo accordion repertoire. At once powerful, passionate, lyrical, nostalgic, and humorous, this concert truly demystifies the instrument, while delighting the audience and paying tribute to the world’s greatest accordion composers. A high-level performance by an artist who does not fail to thrill all who hear her play.

Puppet Show, in French, for 3 to 7 year olds. Paul Flou’s universe is made up of everyday objects, recycled and transformed, to create a playful and theatrical atmosphere: a bottle becomes a bird, a shirt becomes a skunk… Paul Flou is as near-sighted as a mole and he wants to give something special to his adored, nearly blind grand-mother. So, Paul takes off on a search for the perfect gift embarking on an adventure that inspires him to explore all the sounds that surround him.

HOW I BECAME A PIANO ADDICT
DEREK YAPLE-SCHOBERT
Classical concert. Derek Yaple-Schobert has performed around the world, has won several awards, and has received several grants from the Canada Council for the Arts. He shares with us the works that truly got him hooked on the piano such as: Mozart’s Rondo alla Turca, and love-at-first-sight works such as Beethoven’s famous Moonlight Sonata and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodie no. 9. A delightful musical afternoon.

VINCENT GAGNON TRIO
Vincent Gagnon, piano; Michel Lambert, drums; Guillaume Bouchard, bass
Jazz experience. Vincent Gagnon is one of the most sought after jazz pianists, and he is also an active music collaborator with some of the best jazz musicians in the Quebec region. Sensitive and endowed with a strong sense of swing, of melody and of space, Vincent Gagnon knows, however, how to allow the necessary freedom to the musicians that surround him. In 2009, he was awarded Radio-Canada’s Galaxie Rising Star Award for best composition during Montreal’s Jazz Festival.  His recording Bleu Cendre, released in 2009, has attracted numerous prestigious awards and has won him unanimous recognition of the media.

Véronique Mathieu, violin; Andrée-Anne Perras-Fortin, piano
Classical concert. Violinist Véronique Mathieu and pianist Andrée-Anne Perras-Fortin began playing together while they were still students at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec. Véronique Mathieu is currently completing a Ph.D. in performance at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Véronique is also presently Concertmaster of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Andrée-Anne Perras-Fortin is currently a doctoral student in piano performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the direction of Dr. Daniel Shapiro. Programme: Works by Ysaÿe/Saint-Saëns, Clara Schumann, Brahms and Louise Farrenc.

TRIO EXPRESSO
Vladimir Sidorov, bayan (chromatic button accordion); Guy Pelletier, flute; Eric Breton, percussion
World music. Trio Expresso consists of three virtuoso musicians who are well-known among music aficionados. “Parfum du Brésil” presents what began as an infatuation with brilliant Brazilian composers such as Gismonti, Jobim, Pascoal and Machado.  It’s a mix of choros, bossa-nova and other enchanting Brazilian styles. Unique arrangements are combined with virtuosity and passionate improvisation.  Passes required

Children’s performance, in English, for 2 to 5 year olds. We are in the land of Tran Tran Troo on a hot summer night. It is so hot that the marsh is drying up.  The Great Lady La, who can make the water sing, is left without a voice. Luckily, her two children, Lilou and Lalou, set out to find a new source of water to hear their mother sing again.

VANESSA HUSARUK, VIOLIN
Classical Concert. Vanessa Husaruk is a talented violinist who possesses a solid technique, a profound sense of musicality and precision, a gifted musical sensitivity and nature. Ms. Husaruk plays as much in orchestras (Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, OSM…) as she plays solo recitals (Alliance musicale, Chapelle historique au Bon Pasteur, CCA, etc.).  She is accompanied by pianist Michael Finlay. Programme: Beethoven’s Sonata No.10, Brahms’ Sonata No. 2, Ravel’s Tzigane…

L’ATELIER DU CONTE EN MUSIQUE ET EN IMAGES
Family performance in French for 5 years and older. Music, instruments and songs in New France!
In period costumes and with the sounds of various instruments (bagpipes, wheel fiddle, cithern, lute, flute and dulcimer), Lise Roy (singer) and Philippe Gélinas (musician) revive with enthusiasm and humour the songs and music that entertained the families upon first arriving in New France.  You’ll discover traditional folk melodies that influenced the daily occupations of the working man, and that also marked all special occasions. Happy time travel!

(Winner of the Folk Music Award - World artist of the year - group 2010)
World Music.  Sherazade was for Mohamed Masmoudi (oud), Zied Ben Amor (violin and vocals) and Joseph Khoury (percussions), an opportunity to meet. Sokoun Trio, an Arabic word meaning "peace" is a new ensemble of instrumental music combining “oud”, violin and percussions. Essentially inspired by Middle-Eastern music, the Trio's original compositions are also marked by several influences such as Mediterranean music and jazz. This event has received the financial support from the Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tournée.

RENO DE STEFANO QUARTET
Reno De Stefano, guitar; Alec Walkington, bass; Dave Laing, drums; André White, piano
Jazz experience. Reno De Stefano is a Montreal-based jazz guitarist and composer. He has shared the stage with Joe Diorio, Sid Jacobs, James Gelfand, Lorraine Desmarais, Michel Donato… His compositions and performances have been featured on many jazz radio programs across Canada. De Stefano is also a full professor of jazz studies at the Université de Montréal. With his quartet, he presents to us music from his 3rd CD called Elevation released last spring.

Prepare to enter a mystical place where anything is possible… The Giant Magician is a string marionette comedy that incorporates clowning, magic and puppetry. One day, a pizza boy delivers a pizza to the home of the famous magician, Hans Schnitzelpickle. But, Hans is nowhere to be found! As the boy is about to leave, he stumbles across a magic wand and through its power becomes transformed into an extraordinary magician.

VOYAGE: JEWISH SONGS OF THE WORLD
HÉLÈNE ENGEL TRIO
Hélène Engel, singer, guitar, percussion; Henri Oppenheim, accordion, percussion, voice; Marie-Neige Lavigne, violin, voice
World Music. This recital of songs from various Jewish traditions carry us back to the melodies of the Golden Age of Spain, and then moves on to the shores of the New World, while passing through the sunrises and sunsets of Europe. These songs in Yiddish, Judeo-Spanish, and Hebrew, as well as in French and English convey a biblical heritage kept alive through the centuries and across many lands. The richness of the tradition and its creation’s vitality come together in this performance.  Passes required

MIREILLE PROULX
Mireille Proulx, jazz violin; John Sadowy, piano
Jazz experience. Mireille Proulx, violinist and internationally acclaimed jazz composer, introduces her fourth CD called Volutes. Sculpture and architecture were the inspiration for her compositions.  Among the influences, we find: Roland Proulx (painter and designer), Armand Vaillancourt (sculptor), Dale Chihuly (glass sculptor), and the Shaughnessy House, etc.
