World Musique. Alpha Thiam was born in Guinea into a family of Toucouleur nobles, a people who belong to the great Fula family of West Africa. A guitarist and composer, he uses a variety of repertoires originating in Mali, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Liberia and Burkina Faso. He melds his guitar and his voice to the percussions, koras, bass and voices of the three musicians who accompany him.

Nancy White, the singer responsible for “Stickers on Fruit”, “Momnipotent”, and half the songs from the musical “Anne and Gilbert”, and Judith Lander, one of the world’s greatest interpreters of Weill, Brel and Sondheim, have joined forces in a tough and tender cabaret of fine songs. Both women are acclaimed songwriters, both are Canadian, and both can make you laugh and cry. Judith had a great career on Broadway, while Nancy was in Toronto doings songs for a CBC radio show. They began performing together just last year, accompanied by some excellent musician friends of theirs. It was a good idea… you will see for yourself! Featuring songs by Weill, Brel, Sondheim, Schwartz, and their own compositions.
