THE CLUBS AT STEWART HALL

THE CLAYCRAFTERS
Welcome to the Claycrafters
The Claycrafter Guild provides an opportunity for the members to explore the creative possibilities of clay, and to exchange ideas and gain knowledge of throwing, hand building and glaze techniques.

A non-profit organization
In 1952, Pointe-Claire resident Mada Bolton and five other women founded a group devoted to exploring the potential of working with clay. Membership grew quickly and within a year, the group rented space and held its first exhibition and sale.

By the time Stewart Hall Cultural Centre was established in 1961, the group was at least 100 strong. And in 1961 Claycrafters took up residence in Stewart Hall. A permanent studio was created with throwing wheels, kilns and other equipment.

Today
Claycrafters members support and finance their own activities including maintaining a fully equipped studio, annual artisan sales and showroom. We open our studio to the public to hold demonstrations, give children's workshops, beginner classes in wheel throwing & hand building and participate in Stewart Hall's Open House. At Claycrafters, we are proud to be part of the Cultural Heritage of the West Island of Montreal.

Members enjoy access to a spacious well equipped studio (wheels, kilns, slab roller, extruder, library) where they can work on their own as well as participate in classes and workshops to improve their skills. The studio is located at Stewart Hall, 176 chemin Bord-du-Lac - Lakeshore, Pointe-Claire, H9S 4J7.

If you wish to become a member, please call the studio at 514-697-0441 or, for information on pottery workshops, at 514-630-1220.
