The City of Pointe-Claire passed a resolution in 1999 requiring all organizations within the municipality to put in place a volunteer recruitment program. For over ten years now, organizations have been recruiting their volunteers.
Volunteer recruitment is a subject that is extremely important for all groups. Most organizations already have, under one form or another, a volunteer recruitment process, i.e. task description, interview, verification of references and the evaluation of volunteers. The only aspect omitted was the police check. By adding this, the volunteer recruitment is now complete.
Our primary preoccupations for putting in place a volunteer recruitment program is to have volunteers feeling at ease in their duties as well as realizing they meet the organizations expectations and that our vulnerable clientele (children under 18 years of age, people with a disability and seniors) are safe at all times.
