With the aim of protecting human health and the environment, the Council of the City of Pointe-Claire, at its meeting held on May 4, 2004, has adopted the City of Montreal By-law restricting the use of pesticides (By-law nº 04-041). This by-law, in force since May 12, 2004, applies to all the territory of Pointe-Claire. The Parks and Horticulture Division is responsible for issuing of permits on any properties in Pointe-Claire. Every person, citizen or contractor, wishing to use and spread pesticides must first be granted a permit for that purpose. The summary of by-law indicates the steps to be followed in order to obtain a permit.
However, the regulation foresees certain exceptions where the use of pesticides is authorized without obtaining, beforehand, a permit for that purpose. To get acquainted with these exceptions, consult the summary of the regulation on pesticides described below. The summary of the regulation also indicates the necessary conditions to obtain a temporary permit and the steps to follow to obtain a temporary permit for application of pesticides.
For more information on the regulations concerning pesticides, please call Parks and Horticulture Division at (514) 630-1241.
