Work considered as an extension :
- An increase in floor space area
- An increase in volume
- A change in the slope of the roof
- Work involving the enclosure of a veranda, a deck, a porch, etc.
CHECKLIST To submit a request for a building permit, you will need to show:

Location of all renovations on a certificate of location

Location of existing decks, pools, ancillary buildings and other structures

Distances from property lines, sheds, pool, etc.

Construction details and plans – a technologist or an architects stamp and signature may be required
-
Indicate all dimensions, heights, facing materials, etc.

Demolition details if any

Elevation of all sides of new construction or renovation

Cut of the walls
-
Description of the foundation, structural information for floors and roofs

Letter of authorization from the owner of the property (if necessary)

A damage deposit may be required (500$)

Possible service fees required by engineering dept.

Your extension project may be subject to the Site Planning and Architectural Integration By-Law (SPAIP By-Law) PC-2787. Please verify. All residential projects that are subject to a Site Planning and Architectural Integration review should be submitted as per the procedure described here.
