Why an exercise area for dogs ? 

In the City of Pointe-Claire, dog owners have the obligation to keep their animals on a leash in green areas and  public places. The presence of dogs is also prohibited in parks.

The dogrun was designed to give the possibility to the dog owners  to let their animal run freely without violating any municipal regulations.

The exercise area will allow to decrease appreciably the presence of dogs inside parks and green areas. Furthermore, some citizens

won't be afraid of being assaulted by a dog without a leash.

 

DOGRUN AT TERRA COTTA PARK 

 

Dog owners can reach the site by borrowing Donegani and Terra Cotta avenues.

Environmentally speaking, the construction of the exercise area of exercise will contribute to protect habitats, fauna and flora

of the Terra Cotta Natural Park.

What actions will be taken to maintain the healthiness of the site?

A regular maintenance program is planned. This program includes :

The shearing and the grass collection; regular watering of the river pebbles in order to avoid odor spreading;

Regular emptying of the trash cans; collection of leaves, branches, papers and all other debris;

The filling of the plastic bag distributors;

What means will be taken to assure safety? 
The City has established certain rules to protect the users. Every citizen has to acquaint with these rules in the entry of the site and respect them.
Furthermore, constant surveillance will be assured  by the bursar of the Terra Cotta Park and by the Division of Public Security. The participation of the citizens is also wished to denounce any problem related to the use of the site.
